Father’s Day –Importance and significance of the day

Father’s Day is celebrated on different dates in different countries of the world. However, some countries like India, the USA, UK, Japan, Ireland, Bangladesh, Pakistan celebrate Father’s Day on the third Sunday of June which falls on 21st June for the year 2020. But there are some countries such as Italy, Croatia, Spain, and Portugal celebrate it on 19th March. Although the festival is very western, recently it has gained prominence in the other parts of the world.

In Montessori Monrovia, CA teachers plan many activities for children to celebrate Father’s Day as the importance of the day cannot be neglected or ignored. It is the day to celebrate the most important man in anybody's life. Fathers are the superhero who is always ready to do anything for the betterment of their children. The importance of a father's role in a child's life is not measurable. They always stand by their children through the thick and thin of life and guide them to achieve the best in life.

History of Father’s Day:

Father’s Day is a celebration introduced in the USA in the early 20th century with the purpose to celebrate, honor and commemorate the hard works, sacrifices, and contributions of the fathers and forefathers. This day is celebrated on a variety of dates worldwide and typically involves gift-giving, special dinners for dads, and some family-oriented activities.
Though there are some suggestions that the ideal Father’s Day might have originated in pagan sun worship. Some branches of paganism see the sun as the father of the universe and the June solstice occurs around the same time of the year as Father’s Day. So, people often make a connection between these two.

Significance of the day:

Spending time reading these books together is a great way to celebrate Father’s Day and to make the time together even more special for the whole family.
